Quest Mixing On the 1s &2s!
It’s funny how you assume things are going to be one way and it ends up another. My friends and I arrived at the Questlove event last night; dazed and confused from the fact that we were the 1st ones there with no direction. We traveled up the escalator, down the escalator, past the double doors, down the stairs, up the stairs and into a basement that look like gymnasium…WTF! We were like “Oh, No Kid they trying to play us, let me get my Vaseline, take my earrings off!” LOL. Naw, it didn’t go down like that but it should have with all that walking. As we waited the lines grew longer and longer, and the vibe was feeling right. Different races, nations and various ethnicities blended together creating this beautiful rainbow of culturally defined beings. Ages,places and faces were representing their love of GOOD music. After much anticipation, we walk down the stairs again and found the ambience of the previous gymnasium setup to be transformed into a very eclectic soundstage setting. Warm vivid lighting, disco balls, lounge chairs, and yes there were bleachers. The setting was laid out as if it were a high school reunion. Afro, House, Techo, Blues, Jazz and World music beats protrude the air. Wow! This DJ is BANGING…Hold up that’s Questlove! Yes, our expectations fooled us; this was a dance party not a concert. It was time to get our boogie on, and that’s exactly what we did as Quest played old school hits rewinding time. Prince, Craig Handy, Stevie Wonder, Morris Day, Chaka Khan and all that goodness. I went through two pairs of shoes from dancing so hard. LOL. It was a Great NITE! Blessings,
