THE "UNDER CONSTRUCTION...WORK IN PROGRESS"

Being an emerging business owner is such an journey in itself. You never really know success until your climbing the ladder towards it. The ups, downs, arounds and frowns of just trying to push a little bit more, just a little bit more towards your dream. I think about the day when I walk into my brand new office, see the faces of my hard working exclusive staff going strong for the goal, while my intimate corner office with pictures of Prince and Josephine Baker awaits me.
Awww Lovely! I see it now! Well as this road to prosperity leads me towards that path; I'm loving the atmosphere I'm living today. Creatively expressive people hustling for the gold of life, amazing events filled with like minded beings, the connections, the art, the fashion, the lifestyle of being so damn cool. It's freaking awesome and I wouldn't change any of it as I proceed to be Viva!

FASHION COMMANDMENT: CHANEL 2.55 HAND BAG

Ever had a handbag that made you feel so good that  all you could do is dream about one day owning it. One of my FAVORITE accessory pieces, would have to be the legendary Coco Chanel’s Chanel 2.55 handbag created in February 1955 (hence the name 2.55). The launch of this bag marked the beginning of a fashion revolution; the introduction of a chain strap, enabling women to carry their purse on their arm instead of in their hand. "At this time, when socialites were busy holding their glasses of champagne, eating canapés, and reading their theatre programmes, Chanel recognized a need for women to have their hands free." This bag screams sophistication, style, timelessness and glamour. Over the last 50 years we’ve seen the Chanel 2.55 transform in many colors and forms, while still being adored by modern woman like Madonna and Kate Moss. In 1983 Karl Lagerfeld took over creative leadership of the Chanel House, and in 2005 celebrated the handbag’s 50th anniversary. An ode to a wonderful creation, that will stay in history.

HER STORY
Coco Chanel (Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel) was  born in 1883 to a poor family in Saumur. During a brief career as a cafe and concet singers, she adopted the name Coco.
FAKE OR PHONY: THE CHANEL DETECTOR?!
The original Chanel 2.55 handbag can be identified in various ways: the lining is brown and is representative of the uniforms Chanel wore in a convent where she grew up. The inside has a zippered compartment where Chanel apparently concealed her love letters. There is a back pocket or flap where Chanel hid extra money. The shoulder strap is made of a gold chain, resembling the chains on which nuns at the convent where she grew up hung their keys. The front lock with the CC logo, called the Mademoiselle Lock, is the most popular of the trademarks.

THE AWESOME ARGYLE GIRL!

When it comes to Fashion, make your own rules. Take things from the past and create a look that defines you. A simple pattern that redefines the look of an outfit leaves one more than expressive, but a connoisseur of Vintage fashion.

ARGYLE…The INFO:
-“The argyle pattern is derived from the tartan of Clan Campbell, of Argyll in western Scotland [1], and from the patterned socks worn by Scottish Highlanders since at least the 17th century”.
-“Argyle knitwear became fashionable in England and then the USA after the first world war.”
-“Most argyle layouts contain layers of overlapping motifs, adding a sense of three-dimensionality,movement, and texture.

VOICE OF NINA SIMONE: COMPLEXITY OF A WOMAN

As I listened to these words, I began to understand the essence of a woman. Smooth skin, round curves, wide eyes and thick hair. Its a beautiful thing to be a woman; the womb of nature. A planted seed creating humanity under its bosom. The primary source of life as it stands. Although, we are beautiful, the darkness behind our tears can puncture the world. The true struggle of identity and sexuality takes a mental role in our behavior. I watched "For Colored Girls" and realized its not just "For Colored Girls" but its for the world. Understanding the dynamic effect one human being has on another; brings realization that self love is the first love to a greater love.

SWEET VELVET KISSES

Tweeted yesterday; “my current fetish: Red lipstick, Fishnets and VELVET! Not really sure if I’m going through a romance renaissance period in my life but I can’t help to think how I truly love the essence of velvet. The soft, smooth, plush fabric; running through my fingers as I motion up and down, up and down. Hmmm, well maybe not so much. I know many of you are thinking “that’s so whack and tacky” but Fall/Winter 2010 fashion forecast calls for the touch of velvet, believe it or not.  It’s Hot, It’s fierce and Velvet is mad dope!

THE LESSON…

-Velvet has in fact been around as early on as 2000BC
- The Egyptians were documented using a technique similar to the one that is utilized today in velvet production
- Velvet was a highly prized textile which symbolized wealth, power and prestige; which were only worn by nobleman and high honors
-Velour (Juicy Couture tracksuits and Velveteen (the rabbit) are NOT Velvet, Stop Fakin!
